What students do

Every student is associated with a specific community need and a specific role — the work they actually did. A student may contribute to several community needs over time, and each one is documented separately.

How it works
Ten steps. No ambiguity.
- 01A college joins Mosaic Atlas as a Partner Campus.
- 02An authorised coordinator adds or imports students.
- 03Students discover available community needs on the Atlas.
- 04A student joins, or is assigned to, an appropriate community need.
- 05The system associates the student with that Community Need ID.
- 06The student contributes in a defined role.
- 07The contribution is documented.
- 08Progress is verified through the existing Mosaic Atlas workflow.
- 09Programme requirements are completed.
- 10An eligible certificate is issued with a unique Certificate ID.
How impact is documented
Two identifiers. Two different truths.
A Community Need ID identifies the real-world issue. A Certificate ID identifies the recognition issued to one student for their documented contribution. They are never the same record.

A certificate records documented participation. It never claims that the student personally solved the community problem.
How certificates work
Earned, verified, and independently checkable.
- Never issued because a student was added to a roster or assigned to a need.
- Only available after the contribution is documented and verified.
- Carries its own unique Certificate ID, separate from the Community Need ID.
- Anyone can verify it publicly — no forms, no phone calls.
- Shows only what is needed to verify: never private student data.

+Is this a volunteering-hours programme?
No. Hours alone say nothing about what happened. Campus × Mosaic Atlas ties each student to a specific documented community need, a defined role, and a verified record of their contribution.
+Can a certificate be generated just by adding a student?
No. A certificate only becomes available once the contribution is documented and verified. Adding a student to a roster, or assigning them to a community need, never issues anything.
+Can one student work on more than one community need?
Yes. A student can be associated with as many Community Need IDs as they contribute to. Each association is documented and verified separately.
+What does the Victory Mark mean here?
A Victory Mark continues to represent a verified community outcome under the existing Mosaic Atlas rules. It is never awarded for student participation. If a need a student contributed to reaches a verified victory, their record can reference it.
+What about student privacy?
Campus coordinators see only students of their own institution. Students see their own detailed records. Public certificate verification shows only what is needed to verify the certificate.
